Fortune partners with the people analytics firm Great Place To Work to produce the annual list, which is driven primarily by employee feedback. Companies with the broadest sets of employees who report positive workplace experiences receive the highest rankings, according to the methodology. Companies must also answer six essay questions that elaborate on how and why their organization is a great place to work. This year's rankings are based on nearly 640,000 survey responses from employees at eligible companies. To be eligible for the list, employers must have 1,000 or more employees in the U.S. and cannot be a government agency.
