Built for an era of vinyl records and compact discs, the system still relies on delayed reporting and quarterly payouts even as modern artists generate billions of streams and microtransactions every day. During a recent interview with TheStreet Roundtable , Travis Garrett, the founder and chief executive of Record Financial, as well as Morgan Krupetsky, vice president of on-chain finance at Ava Labs, outlined how distributed ledger technology can modernize royalty payments and turn music into a more transparent financial asset class. “We are really music infrastructure,” Garrett explained. “We are treating music as an asset, normalizing the data, and then providing services to pay and report to clients, (who can) take loans against them and eventually tokenize revenue streams.” The problem Record is targeting is structural.
