Nvidia Gets Boost After Microsoft Says It Will Use Graphics Chip for 'Minecraft' Nvidia ( NVDA Get Report MSFT Ray tracing is a better way for gaming consoles to render rays of light and shadow effects, allowing light graphics in a video game scene to bounce from object to object in a realistic way. "'Minecraft' will expose ray tracing to millions of gamers of all ages and backgrounds that may not play more hardcore video games," said Matt Wuebbling, head of GeForce marketing at Nvidia. "The world's best-selling video game adding ray tracing on PC illustrates the momentum that ray tracing has built in the gaming ecosystem." "Minecraft" is one of the world's most popular video games with more than 176 million copies sold worldwide. Nvidia rose 4.5% to $166.81.
