A Bronx-born entrepreneur claims he is preparing a cease-and-desist letter against the creators of NYC Token, endorsed by Adams. NYC Token is a Solana-based cryptocurrency project that claims to be designed to generate funding for social and civic initiatives tied to New York City. Related: What is tokenization? Explained Edward Cullen, co-founder and CEO of digital assets firm Crescite, alleged that the project promoted by Adams was based on a concept he had previously pitched to the latter's team, as reported by Decrypt on Jan. 13. “We're 100% confident that he took this concept from us,” Cullen told. “We were absolutely shocked that [Adams] launched this token with the same exact name and the same general concept.” Adams appeared in Times Square on Jan. 12 to promote NYC Token, which he said would generate revenue to combat “antisemitism and anti-Americanism,” while also funding educational resources for underprivileged communities in New York City.
