the loss in income from fewer visitors was mitigated by higher lift ticket revenue and spending at the company's ski schools and restaurants. The company said season-to-date total skier visits were down 7.8% year-over-year, while lift ticket revenue and ski school revenue rose 3.2% and 7%, respectively. “Given the unfavorable conditions across our North American resorts for a large portion of the season, we are pleased with our overall results as the 2023/2024 ski season nears completion. While visitation declined, our ancillary businesses performed well, with particularly strong growth in spending per visit in our ski and ride school, dining, and rental business,” Vail CEO Kirsten Lynch said. Unfortunately, the “challenging” early season conditions at Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, persisted through early March and resulted in lower visitation despite improved conditions.
