Rates for oil tanker journeys have spiked as prices for near-term oil contracts (the ones quoted on CNBC) have fallen much further than prices for contracts that will come due in future months. The oil market is telling you that the Saudi - Russian tension will eventually be resolved and that a barrel of oil that is worth $27.32 “today” would be worth $34.43 in November.
