Rarely have I been angered so much by a letter to the editor as I was by Ryan Galloway's unjust attack on baby boomers in the April 19 Register . While arguing against a proposed property tax exemption for senior citizens, Galloway depicts my generation as selfish, vastly wealthy people born with the proverbial silver spoon in their mouths. Nothing could be further from the truth. We baby boomers were raised by parents who had survived both the Great Depression and World War II and passed on to us the lessons of frugality those experiences taught them. You “made do” with what you had, worked hard to earn an honest living and managed your money wisely. You didn't buy things you couldn't afford, saved until you could afford them, and didn't borrow money if you couldn't pay it back. Like so many in the younger generations, Galloway appears resistant to those values.
