The prevalent use of diesel fuel in mining is also a concern for health and safety. In a bid to reduce its reliance on traditional fuel, the mining sector is starting to electrify its operations. Although widespread electrification of mining equipment is not expected until well into the next decade, according to GlobalData's mining analysts, some major mining companies are already partnering with equipment manufacturers and integration providers to charge ahead with electrification projects.
