“We hope this will be announced by the company president who will soon visit Peru,” Energy and Mines minister Romulo Mucho said in an interview with a local outlet. Peru's economy is largely dependent on mining, but new investments have become scarce, slowing growth. Mucho said he sees potential for mining expansions in the short term but not for the construction of brand new mines. The company last year said it would delay a final decision on whether to move forward with the expansion at least until 2025.
