As of 8:30 a.m. ET on Monday, more than 40,000 users reported issues with X, according to Downdetector , which tracks live service outages. More than 50% of users reported issues with the mobile app. The outage is reported throughout the United States, with large numbers coming in from New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis and the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Downdetector reported. X did not immediately respond for comment when contacted by USA TODAY. Third X outage this year The apparent outage on Monday, Feb. 16 is the third of its kind this year. On Jan. 13, X was down for more than 24,000 users and on Jan. 16, more than 74,000 users reported another round of issues with the social media platform. The reasoning for the apparent outages remains unclear, but in late 2025, the social media platform faced issues with the internet infrastructure platform Cloudflare .
