The agreement is set to start in August 2026. It marks the commercialisation of the LNG import facility, which is projected to generate $50m in annual earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) by 2027. The TGS terminal has a capacity of roughly six million tonnes per annum (mtpa) and can send out a maximum of 500 million standard cubic feet per day (mscf/d). A 33km pipeline connects the offshore LNG terminal to the existing Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto Bolívia-Brasil (TBG) pipeline on land. Strategically positioned, the TGS terminal provides essential access to natural gas for power generation in southern Brazil, where alternative supplies are limited. Its infrastructure aims to support reliable power generation through its flexible LNG capabilities.
