Paramount is now considering taking an offer straight to shareholders to acquire the asset, believing its deal has a better chance of gaining U.S. regulatory approval, sources told CNBC. Paramount was the only bidder interested in acquiring all of WBD's assets — the film studio, streaming service and TV networks. Netflix and Comcast were vying for just Warner Bros. and HBO Max.
