Want to get some movie watching done ahead of awards season? The American Film Institute has your to-do list. The AFI released its AFI Awards 2025 honorees on Thursday, Dec. 4, declaring its top 10 movies and TV programs for the year. Among the films honored: "Jay Kelly," which stars George Clooney Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein "Hamnet, " which won the Toronto Film Festival's People's Choice Award, and the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed "One Battle After Another," which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and was recently named Best Feature at the 2025 Gotham Film Awards The AFI also also honored ten TV series including 2025 Emmy winners such as "Adolescence," "The Studio" and "The Pitt." “For more than a quarter of a century, AFI Awards has held the flag high for community without competition,” said Bob Gazzale, AFI President & CEO, in a statement. “It is AFI's honor to celebrate these creative ensembles as one, as together they have proved the power of art in challenging times.”
