That contraction was the worst in five months when industrial profits shrank 9.1% in May. The latest reading followed a sharp rebound in industrial profits in and when the official figures surged 20.4% and 21.6% year-on-year, respectively, marking the biggest jump since November 2023. For the first ten months of the year, profits at major industrial firms grew 1.9% from a year ago, the official data showed, decelerating from a 3.2% rise in the January to September period.
