Nissan has decided to end production of its Versa compact sedan, ending a two-decade-long run for a car that was launched with great fanfare. The news comes as Nissan reported sales of just 51,310 Versas in 2025 , making it the lowest-selling of the manufacturer's mass market sedan models. Only the Z and GTR sports cars had lower sales than the Versa among Nissan's car models. Why did Nissan kill the Versa? The Japanese automaker, which once had several hugely popular models in the sedan segment, said in a statement provided to USA TODAY, "In line with Nissan's product strategy, the Nissan Versa ended production in December 2025 for the U.S. market."
