That's my personal definition of an irresistible story. On Monday, lawyers for Carter and Sassie's pet-parents filed a brief , opens new tab urging the Supreme Court to leave in place a 2023 ruling , opens new tab from the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that sent their class action against two leading pet food companies back to Missouri state court. Defendants Royal Canin and Nestle Purina Pet Care, as I'll explain, told the Supreme Court , opens new tab in December that the 8th Circuit erroneously based its jurisdictional analysis on the plaintiffs' amended complaint, which purposefully stripped out all references to federal law, instead of focusing on the operative complaint at the time that Royal Canin and Nestle first removed the prospective class action to federal court.
