Nintendo ( NTDOY ) is scaling back Switch 2 production after momentum from its record-setting launch began to soften, particularly in the US during the critical holiday period. The company now plans to produce 4 million units this quarter, down from an earlier target of 6 million, with the reduced pace expected to carry into April, according to people familiar with the matter. While the console saw strong early traction following its June debut, demand has not sustained at the level management had anticipated, even as a lower-priced variant in Japan continues to perform well. Despite the early success of Pokemon Pokopia, Nintendo is holding off on increasing output, suggesting management is still assessing whether recent software releases can support a more durable demand cycle.
