The Redmond-based video game company filed the lawsuit in the U.S. Court of International Trade against multiple federal agencies and officials, including the Treasury Department, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Commerce, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. In the complaint, Nintendo said the case centers on tariffs imposed under executive orders issued by President Donald Trump beginning in February 2025 under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, or IEEPA. The company said those orders led to tariffs on imports from countries including Canada, Mexico, China, Brazil and India. Nintendo said the trade measures “have, to date, resulted in the collection of more than $200 billion in tariffs on imports from nearly all countries.” The company said it imports goods from countries affected by those tariffs and paid the duties on those imports.
