The company said it was re-evaluating its Brazilian retail footprint at an investor sit-down with Raymond James earlier this week. As part of this strategy, the company also announced its phosphate division – one of four key sectors in the company – was under review in early November. Nutrien also shuttered its Trinidad nitrogen operations in October, divested its stake in Hong Kong-based Sinofert for US$200-million and sold its 50-per-cent equity stake in Argentina-based Profertil for US$600-million. Nutrien rules out Canada for new export terminal, chooses U.S. site “Nutrien is making a concentrated effort to look at every asset individually and trying to determine what kind of free cash flow and capital attributes they have,” said Steve Hansen, managing director and equity analyst with Raymond James Ltd.
