CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 19, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Nucor Corporation (NYSE: NUE) today announced guidance for its first quarter ending April 4, 2020. Nucor expects first quarter earnings to be in the range of $0.95 to $1.00 per diluted share. This range is an increase compared to fourth quarter of 2019 earnings of $0.35 per diluted share and a decrease compared to first quarter of 2019 earnings of $1.63 per diluted share.Included in the fourth quarter of 2019 earnings were non-cash impairment charges of $66.9 million, or $0.17 per diluted share. Included in the first quarter of 2019 results was a benefit of $33.7 million, or $0.08 per diluted share, related to the gain on the sale of an equity method investment in the raw materials segment. We expect earnings in the steel mills segment to increase in the first quarter of 2020 as compared to the fourth quarter of 2019 (excluding the fourth quarter of 2019 impairment charge), due to increased average selling prices, primarily at our sheet,
