Fractile, a UK AI chip start-up, is testing investor appetite for alternatives to Nvidia's ( NASDAQ:NVDA ) dominance. The company is in talks to raise more than $200 million at a roughly $1 billion valuation. The round, which hasn't yet been finalized, would include venture capital firm Accel and existing backer Oxford Science Enterprises. It comes after UK rival Olix raised $220 million at a similar valuation, signaling growing investor interest in British inference-focused chip companies. Prior to these talks, Fractile had raised about $15 million in seed financing. Fractile's architecture uses SRAM co-located with compute to reduce latency and improve efficiency, targeting inference where traditional GPU setups can become constrained.
