Over the last few years, the crypto sector has increasingly diverged into two separate camps. The anarchic cypherpunk culture that used to characterize the entire space has grown into a broad segment where DeFi, NFTs, and meme coins come out to play. It even has its own name – Web3. In the other camp are the institutional interests. The likes of Blackrock and Fidelity tend to prefer the terminology of digital assets and tokenization over Web3. They typically avoid exposure to the riskiest assets in favor of large-cap cryptocurrencies and, now, regulated products like Bitcoin BTC ETFs that track their value.
