BUTTE, Mont. and SIOUX FALLS, S.D., April 22, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- NorthWestern Corporation d/b/a NorthWestern Energy (NYSE: NWE) reported financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2020. Net income for the period was $50.7 million, or $1.00 per diluted share, as compared with net income of $72.8 million, or $1.44 per diluted share, for the same period in 2019. This $22.1 million decrease in net income is primarily due to lower loads in our electric and natural gas segments due to warmer winter weather and lower transmission revenue, offset in part by an increase in Montana electric retail rates."As stewards of critical infrastructure and essential service, we implemented a COVID-19 plan in early March.
