The White House is moving to cut $943 million in electric vehicle charging money in four states that voted against President Donald Trump in the last U.S. presidential election. The White House Office of Management and Budget confirmed to USA TODAY the cuts will impact charger funding that was scheduled to be paid out to Colorado, Illinois, California and Minnesota. The charger money, which was originally included in the 2021 Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act that was a signature law signed by former President Joe Biden , is part of $1.5 billion in "woke" funds that were appropriated by Congress during the Biden administration that the White House is trying now to claw back from states, the New York Post reported. The Biden-era EV charger money has been at the center of legal fights since the start of the second Trump administration in January 2025.
