In an email among the millions of documents released by the Justice Department, Lutnick invited Epstein to "a very intimate [sic] fundraising event with Hillary Clinton" on Nov. 11, 2015, by financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald, which Lutnick once led. The email was sent to Epstein's long-time secretary and forwarded to Epstein on Nov. 3, 2015. It is unclear whether the wealthy financier attended the event. He made no donations to Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission. Clinton went on to lose the 2016 election to Trump. Lutnick did not immediately respond to an email sent to the Commerce Department media office. During a podcast interview with the New York Post's Miranda Devine in October, Lutnick distanced himself from the sex offender, calling him "gross," and claiming he and his wife had decided to stay far away from him after their first visit to Epstein's townhouse in 2005.
