Zillow gets Buy rating at Deutsche; Opendoor, Compass started at Hold [Seeking Alpha]

Calling Zillow ( Z ) a "the dominant US housing demand aggregator," Deutsche thinks the company's value proposition to agents will grow once overall transaction velocity of existing U.S. homes increases, the firm wrote in a note. That supports Deutsche's outlook for 9% revenue growth in 2024 (vs. 8.9% consensus) and 13% in 2025 (matching consensus). "Given the new streamlined cost base, we expect even faster EBITDA growth of 28% and 33%," the note said. Compass ( COMP ), meantime, is expected to be an "equal beneficiary in a housing market recovery, premium valuation and the overhang from the Sitzer/Burnett lawsuit that could disrupt broker commissions keeps us on the sidelines for now." For Opendoor ( OPEN ), Deutsche thinks that home prices could suffer from affordability challenges, resulting in spreads remaining higher for longer.
