Following the Government’s decision, the operators of the Canadian Malartic and the Lamaque mines announced that a phased resumption of their respective activities will begin on April 15, 2020. Stornoway, the Renard diamond mine operator, has decided to keep the mine on care and maintenance for the time being, given the structural challenges still affecting diamond market sales as well as the depressed prices for diamonds due to COVID-19.
