Private credit experts say the mass withdrawals are effectively stress testing the market, but that the gates on withdrawals don't necessarily indicate something is broken. There's nothing to fear but fear itself...in private credit Case in point: Blue Owl Capital's private credit woes. Concerns about private credit—that is the $3 trillion market of loans from non-bank lenders such as private funds, asset managers and insurance companies—has driven masses of investors to the exits. In the face of uber high withdrawal requests—for example, Blue Owl's flagship OCIC fund received redemption requests for about 21.9% of shares outstanding in the first quarter, and its tech-focused fund, 40.7% of shares—the firm has further capped redemptions at 5% from 15% previously.
