Democratic voters in Memphis, Tennessee, have a heated U.S. House primary ahead in 2026 after state Rep. Justin J. Pearson announced he's running against long-time incumbent Rep. Steve Cohen The seat, Tennessee's 9th Congressional District , has been held by Cohen since 2007. The district, which encompasses most of Memphis and some of its suburbs, is a Democratic stronghold and has been held by a member of the party since 1983.
