Related news Brazil stocks initially rose after investor-friendly candidate Jair Bolsonaro's victory in the country's presidential election, but reversed to close with significant loses. After nearly winning a majority in the first round, he defeated the leftist Workers' Party candidate Fernando Haddad in the run-off with just over 55% of Sunday's vote. The country's benchmark Bovespa stock index reversed to trade down more than 3%. Among U.S.-listed Brazil stocks, state-owned energy behemoth Petrobras ( PBR ) fell 4.2% on the stock market today . Meanwhile iron ore giant Vale ( VALE ) was down 5.2%. Aerospace firm Embraer ( ERJ ), which has partnered with Boeing ( BA ), lost 1.9%. Among exchange traded funds, iShares MSCI Brazil Capped ETF ( EWZ ) slid 3.5% and the triple-leveraged Direxion Daily Brazil Bull Shares ETF ( BRZU ) plunged 10%.
