Petrobras did not immediately respond to request for comments. The nitrogenous unit was halted in 2020 and included in Petrobras' then divestment plan under former president Jair Bolsonaro's administration. Report this ad The reopening would come as the government of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has been pushing Brazil, a major exporter of agriculture commodities, to reduce its dependence on fertilizers imports. The plant, known as Fafen, has daily capacity to produce about 2,000 metric tons of urea and 1,300 metric tons of ammonia, workers union FUP said in a statement.
