and Electric Co. over damages and losses tied to the 2022 Mosquito Fire, officials announced Monday. According to a press release from PCWA, the agreement resolves all litigation stemming from the wildfire, which ignited Sept. 6, 2022, near Oxbow Reservoir outside Foresthill and burned nearly 77,000 acres across Placer and El Dorado counties. Authorities stated that the fire forced the PCWA's Middle Fork American River Hydroelectric Project offline for about six months, disrupting power generation and impacting operations. The blaze also damaged agency facilities and surrounding natural resources critical to the project. Under the settlement, officials said that PG&E will pay $80 million to the water agency, which will transfer the funds to the Middle Fork Project Finance Authority.
