PepsiCo is introducing another protein-centric product to its range with the launch of Good Warrior meat snacks. “Consumers are hungry for protein options,” PepsiCo announced as it rolls out the debut product Good Warrior Beef Sticks in US retailers this month. While the GLP-1 trend was not mentioned in a statement as the main rationale for the launch, PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta has emphasised the company's intent to embrace the protein movement, which along with fibre-focused products are becoming key components of innovation strategies. People on the weight-loss drugs are reportedly increasing consumption of protein- and fibre-rich foods to satisfy their satiety while on the medications, which have become more convenient with the introduction of a pill variant. PepsiCo cited a January survey conducted on its behalf by RepData, which found “86% of Americans are looking to add more protein to their diets”.
