Pregnant people should get an RSV vaccine at 32 to 36 weeks’ gestation in order to protect their newborns from RSV, according to an advisory committee to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.The committee voted 11-1 on Friday to recommend the injection. CDC Director Mandy Cohen must now formally endorse that recommendation before the vaccine can be distributed to the public.The single-dose shot, made by Pfizer, is called Abrysvo and already approved by the Food and Drug Administration. It spurs the production of antibodies in the mother, which transfer through the placenta.
