Courtesy Impinj Shares of the internet of things chip play Impinj are trading sharply higher Thursday after the company settled a longstanding patent- infringement dispute between the company and NXP Semiconductor. Impinj shares were 9.6% higher to $124.39. The stock is up 38% for the year to date. Under terms of the settlement, NXP will make a one-time payment to Impinj of $45 million. NXP will also make an annual license payment to Impinj that will be $15 million in 2024, with payments increasing by a fixed percentage each year.
