Indian Motorcycle Nostalgia is a tricky wicket for manufacturers. Vehicle enthusiasts pine for the machines of their youth, and some pay a fortune for them at auction, but manufacturers who have issued “retro” models in the past, while betting on the enthusiasm of those enthusiasts, have often seen them gather dust on showroom floors. Bringing an old model back to life for modern markets requires meeting emissions and safety standards while also delivering modern performance. That can lead to stylistic compromises that derail the lust factor for buyers.
