White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the upcoming tax refund season is "projected to be the largest ever," during a press briefing on Thursday, Dec. 11 Leavitt cited a recent analysis from the investment bank and financial services firm Piper Sandler "When Americans file their taxes early next year, their refunds could be about one-third larger than usual, or roughly an extra $1,000 per filer," Leavitt said. But the refund won't affect all Americans the same. Piper Sandler reported the average payment is set to increase by about $1,000 per filer. Leavitt pointed to President Donald Trump's " One Big Beautiful Bill Act " to explain this increase.
