The stock rose about 11% to $46.37 in recent trading. Shares are up about 32% this year, outpacing the S&P 500's 19% rise over the same period. Advertisement The Dallas-based company, which operates its namesake stores as well as others under the Main Event banner, reported a 7.8% drop in same-store sales for the quarter. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected an 8.9% decline. Compared with the same period in 2019, same-store sales rose 8.1%. Chief Financial Officer Michael Quartieri said that marked an improvement over the prior quarter and said it is a "positive indicator that our most challenging comps are behind us." Dave & Buster's reported a third-quarter loss of 12 cents a share, compared with a profit of 4 cents a share a year ago. Adjusted earnings were a penny a share. Analysts expected a loss of 14 cents a share. The company is working to turn its business around, including by overhauling its menu, remodeling most of its venues and adjusting its pricing on games.
