The owner of the Sesame Street brand is suing SeaWorld, which oversees the theme park, over contract disputes that could end a partnership that spans decades. In a federal lawsuit , Sesame Workshop — the New York-based nonprofit that licenses the “Sesame Street” name and characters — claims that SeaWorld has engaged in a campaign to drag down the brand. The suit claims that Sea World delayed paying over $11 million in royalties to use “Sesame Street's” intellectual property and did not honor obligations that included opening a new theme park. The suit is asking for a federal judge to end the licensing agreement between the two companies. The last deal the two parties entered into was in 2017. “SeaWorld's actions have harmed Sesame Workshop, wrongfully withholding royalty payments that are vital to supporting our charitable mission and undermining our ability to oversee SeaWorld's use of our beloved characters and brand,” Sesame Workshop said in a statement. “We are aware of
