PriceSmart CEO resigns 'by mutual agreement' PriceSmart Inc. PSMT, +0.69% Chief Executive Jose Luis Laparte resigned "by mutual agreement" with the company on Thursday. PriceSmart said in an announcement that he would be replaced on an interim basis by board member Sherry Bahrambeygui, and Laparte would support her by request until the end of the year. Chairman Robert Price will become executive chairman of the San Diego-based membership-based retail chain, and Leon Janks will become lead director. "PriceSmart has a great future ahead of it and I believe it is well-positioned for future growth," Laparte said in the announcement. PriceSmart also announced fourth-quarter earnings of 62 cents a share on sales of $777.9 million Thursday afternoon. Earnings were down from 64 cents a share a year ago and lower than the 68 cents a share expected by analysts on average, according to FactSet.
