The company's midstream business is now approaching scale to fully support all basic business needs. This segment now supports sustaining capital and dividend spending. The upside provided by refining and the petrochemical divisions provides ample cash to fund growth, buy back shares, and pay down debt. The strong return of equity to shareholders has allowed the company to consistently grow its dividend while sticking to a firm $2 billion budget. This organic method of dividend growth has allowed the company to grow the dividend by over 30% since 2022. Looking back further, the dividend has grown by 5x since 2012, when the company was first spun out from ConocoPhillips.
