The company said it anticipates third quarter revenue of between $9.2 billion and $10 billion. Analysts were looking for $10.23 billion. The report comes after TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Qualcomm is working with OpenAI to produce a smartphone chip that will go into mass production in 2028. The move is part of the AI lab's effort to do something Amazon ( AMZN ), Meta ( META ), and Microsoft ( MSFT ) have failed to do: crack the Apple ( AAPL ) and Google ( GOOG ) smartphone duopoly. But Kuo's report comes at a difficult time for the smartphone market as the global memory crisis cuts into supplies, increasing prices and eroding demand for entry-level devices. For the second quarter, Qualcomm reported earnings per share (EPS) of $2.65 on revenue of $10.59 billion.
