Bank (the “Bank”), reported net income for the first quarter of 2024 of $2,594,000, or $0.71 per share on a diluted basis. This compares to net income of $4,118,000, or $1.15 per share on a diluted basis, for the same period in 2023. For the quarter ended March 31, 2024, the annualized rate of return on average assets and average shareholders' equity was 0.59% and 6.53%, respectively, compared with 0.96% and 11.11%, respectively, for the first quarter 2023. The operating performance of the Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of QNB Corp., declined for the quarter ended March 31, 2024, in comparison with the same period in 2023, due primarily to interest margin compression causing a $298,000 decline in net interest income, a decrease in the amount of reversal in the provision for credit losses on loans and commitments of $1,719,000 and an increase in non-interest expense of $635,000.
