Because when more and more ETFs are offering 10% to even 50%-plus annualized yields in some cases, the competition for high-yield investment dollars has gone to a whole other level. To stay competitive, I believe two CEF fund families, Eaton Vance and Nuveen, will need to start looking at raising distributions back for some of their funds. And with two technology stock-focused funds having more than recovered from the 2022 bear market, it's time to raise their distributions from the current 6.5% NAV and 7.0% market yields to something more attractive. They don't have to compete with the more retail focused YieldMax ETFs, but they do need to attract institutional investors back who are their bread-and-butter long-term shareholders anyway.
