Tom Curtis said he wanted Burger King to be a “consumer-led” brand when he gave out his phone number a week or so ago . Today the chain made an announcement proving just how serious he is about this objective. For the first time in nearly 10 years, Burger King has made changes to its signature Whopper burger, inspired directly by guest feedback. The burger will continue to include a quarter-pound of 100% flame-grilled beef and will be free of artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. Changes include a “more premium, better tasting” bun, according to the company. The Whopper will also be served in a box to ensure more efficient heat transfer from the kitchen. Finally, it will include an upgraded mayonnaise alongside well-portioned chopped onions, lettuce, and pickles.
