Danz, the RBI's press secretary, said in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine on April 4. "Under the legislation governing joint-stock companies, RBI's management is mandated to minimize losses for RBI shareholders," the statement said. "After careful consideration, RBI's management determined that the optimal course for RBI shareholders is the deconsolidation of Raiffeisenbank Russia. The best option is a sale." If this option proves infeasible, Danz suggested an alternative approach involving the separation of Russian Raiffeisen from RBI.
