Rand plans to elect to be treated as a “Regulated Investment Company” (RIC) BUFFALO, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rand Capital Corporation (Nasdaq: RAND) (“Rand” or “Rand Capital” or the “Company”), a business development company, today announced that its Board of Directors has declared a special dividend of $23.7 million, or approximately $1.62 per share, in connection with its plans to elect to become a regulated investment company (“RIC”) for U.S. federal tax purposes beginning with tax year 2020. The special dividend will be paid in a combination of cash and shares of the Company’s common stock to shareholders of record at the close of business on April 2, 2020 (the “Record Date”). The Company expects to complete the distribution of the special dividend on or about May 11, 2020 (the “Distribution Date”).Allen F.
