reported first-quarter 2026 earnings that showed a decline in year-over-year profit, which overshadowed beats on some analyst estimates. Net income for the quarter fell 10% to $42.6 million from $47.3 million in the same period a year earlier. The primary cause for the drop was the performance of its Republic Processing Group, where net income decreased to $18.8 million from $29.9 million. This was largely due to the nonrenewal of a significant Tax Refund Solutions contract and lower refund-related volumes. While the company's Core Bank segment performed well, with its net income rising 37%, this was not enough to offset the processing division's weakness. Despite overall revenue and adjusted profit coming in ahead of Wall Street's expectations, investors appeared to focus on the year-over-year decline in profitability.
