The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that an examination into chemical contaminants in infant formula found "an overwhelming majority of samples had undetectable or very low levels of contaminants, affirming that the U.S. infant formula supply is safe." In a statement, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. said "we tested more infant formula than ever before, and the results are clear: most products meet a high safety standard — but even small exposures matter for newborns." Kennedy said the FDA would hold manufacturers accountable "and give parents honest, transparent data they can trust." Consumer Reports, which published results on its tests of infant formulas in 2025 and in March, said it was encouraged by the FDA results.
