U.S. Gulf of Mexico oil and gas auction generates $244 million | Reuters 1 Min Read (Reuters) - A major auction of oil and gas leases in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday received $244.3 million in high bids, government officials said. The revenue generated by the sale was higher than similar sales held last year. Royal Dutch Shell and Equinor were among the high bidders for the leases, officials from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said in a conference call with reporters following the sale.
